little retreat

I love D.C. I get such a fuzzy happy feeling walking around it. J had set up a trip to a bed and breakfast in NW for part of my graduation present, and it was beautiful: wonderfully inviting and relaxing.

The second part of my present was dinner in Dupont. I love that area. I could sit around that fountain (and have!) for forever, just watching all the people. It's one of my favorite people watching places...and since I am someone who enjoys other people's drama far more than my own, I take great joy in watching other people go bonkers in public. It happens way more than you would think civilized people would allow, but I guess sometimes you have to yell, no matter where you are at the time.

Upon returning to our little bed and breakfast, we chatted a bit with Sandy, the owner, who made some of the greatest banana bread I've ever had. The thunderstorm that rattled over DC yesterday rattled all the power out of the place, but it was fun wandering through a beautiful old home with candles to light everything. It's like visiting colonial Williamsburg without having to make the drive.

Meanwhile, our little muffin was at home, no doubt spying on our neighbors from the bedroom window:

Fun! And it was a wild weekend in Dupont this weekend. Very frustrating as I was trying to navigate the city in my car and park...but entertaining otherwise!

Ah yes...parking in Dupont. We actually took a cab, and thank god - I haven't regenerated my patience for parking in D.C. yet!

What a precious kitty face, such a handsome boy

Anonymous : he is our little muffin head!
